The luck of the Irish.
A massive €15 million Euromillion jackpot has just been collected in Ireland after being won earlier in this month. A National Lottery spokesman said that a family group of two collected the winnings from the company’s office in Dublin, Ireland.
Ireland certainly seems to have the luck of the old adage as this is the 3rd Euromillions win to strike the lucky country since the draws began in 2004.
The winning ticket, a €9 quick pick ticket was purchased at The Abbey stores in Carrickbeg, Carrick-on-Suir, County Tipperary but was unclaimed at the time.
This fantastic win came less than a week after a syndicate with 16 people claimed almost €19 million, which is Irelands largest jackpot in their history. The syndicate was made up of workers from a concrete and quarry plant in Bennekerry, County Carlow, comprising 15 male workers and one lucky female employee. One wonders who run the plant that Monday morning after that fantastic win.
The biggest lottery win is still lucky Limerick woman Dolores McNamara who scooped an astounding €115 million in the Euromillions draw during 2005.
So if you were thinking of choosing the lovely Ireland for your summer holiday this year, maybe you’d like to try your chances on the Euromillions while you are there and see if some of the luck of the Irish has rubbed off on you.
